BREXIT: THE VIEW FROM BRUSSELS Molly Scott-Cato MEP

Our view of Brexit is dominated by reports as seen through the eyes of the British news media but what is the view of Brexit from the other side of the Channel and throughout the European Union? In her talk, Molly Scott-Cato will using her experience of being a Member of the European Parliament to give a frank account of Brexit as seen from the ‘other side’.

ABOUT MOLLY SCOTT-CATO

Molly has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2014. She is a member of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee and the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee.

Molly grew up in Bath and has spent most of her adult life in the West Country. She studied politics, philosophy and economics at Oxford University and later gained a doctorate in economics from Aberystwyth. She worked as Professor of Economics at Roehampton University in London and has written several books

Aside from her work as an economist Molly’s areas of special interest include land ownership and food production; renewable energy, especially when it is owned by local communities; co-operatives and self-managed firms; and issues concerned with peace and opposing nuclear weapons and nuclear power.

Molly joined the Green Party in 1988, has stood for election at all levels and spent several years as co-chair of its regional council. For the past 15 years Molly has spoken for the Green Party on economics and finance and is also the Green Party’s spokesperson EU Relations. Before being elected to the European Parliament, Molly led the Green Group on Stroud District Council and was Chair of the Council’s Audit Committee.

EVENT INFORMATION

Molly Scott-Cato’s talk and question and answer session will be followed by light refreshments and an opportunity to chat informally with Molly and other members of the audience.

Stratford-upon-Avon College is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Stratford and a 10 minute walk from Stratford railway station. There are also more frequent services to Warwick Parkway on the Chiltern line (20 minutes by taxi to Stratford). For those coming by car there is ample free parking at the venue.

Doors will open at 6.30 pm for a 7.00 pm start and the event will end by 9.00 pm. Admission is FREE but by ticket only. Reserved Admission tickets need to be booked in advance from Eventbrite.
