SUMMARY:Saving Britain - Brexit and how it can be stopped Andrew Adonis
DESCRIPTION:Please join People’s Vote Coventry for an exciting event to discuss the importance of a People’s Vote and how Brexit could impact Coventry and the West Midlands. \nWhatever your views on Brexit\, no one would disagree it’s a big deal. The future of our country is at stake. Take back control of your future and demand a final say. \nSpeaker: Andrew Adonis \nSenior Labour party politician\, life peer\, and leading People’s Vote Campaigner Andrew Adonis will be joining the Coventry People’s Vote group beginning at 7:15pm on Wednesday 13th March\, to host a public meeting on Brexit (and how it can be stopped!). The discussion\, titled Saving Britain\, will cover the current state-of-affairs in Parliament and in Brussels; how a People’s Vote can be obtained and won; and why Remain is the only viable option for the UK. \nAndrew is a Labour member of the House of Lords and a visiting professor at King’s College London. He began his career as an academic at Oxford University\, before becoming a journalist at the Financial Times and then The Observer. \nHe was later appointed as Head of the Number 10 Policy Unit by Prime Minister Tony Blair and in 2005 was made a life peer and became Minister for Schools\, forging Teach First\, academies and the London Challenge. In 2008 he became Minister then Secretary of State for Transport\, pioneering HS2 and Crossrail. He was founding chair of the independent National Infrastructure Commission until he resigned to fight Brexit. \nHe has authored several books such as “Education\, Education\, Education: Reforming England’s schools” “5 Days in May: The Coalition and Beyond”\, and most recently “Saving Britain: How We Must Change to Prosper in Europe” with Will Hutton. \n7.15pm (6.40 doors open) Wednesday 13th March 2019 \nTickets are FREE but must be booked in advance via Eventbrite \n
