DESCRIPTION:As Theresa May succeeds in putting off any decision about Brexit until the last moment\, there is a clear and predictable sense that Tory self-interest is winning through. It is increasingly looking like\, rather than preside over an abject ‘no deal’ disaster\, her ‘any Brexit is better than no Brexit’ strategy could end up seizing the day and being trumped as a great victory for her and her party. \nTo shed light on this\, we are delighted that Michael is making a return visit to Stratford after his sell-out talk over a year ago. Michael is renowned for his incisive\, informed and penetrating analysis of the Brexit negotiations. As Michael exposes the deceptions and lies that surface in the likely deal expect some verbal fireworks too! \nABOUT MICHAEL DOUGAN \nMichael was acclaimed as the internet star of the June 2016 referendum when his lecture on the ‘industrial-scale dishonesty’ of the Leave campaign attracted 7 million hits on Facebook and YouTube. Since then he has attracted considerable notice for his in-depth commentary on the current post-referendum situation from his perspective as a leading EU lawyer. \nMichael is Professor of European Law and Jean Monnet Chair in European Union Law at the University of Liverpool. He specialises in EU Law\, particularly EU constitutional law\, the Single Market and EU welfare law. He has published widely\, provided written evidence to government enquiries\, appeared as an expert witness to parliamentary committees and advised government departments on European affairs. \nEVENT INFORMATION \nThe formal event will be followed by light refreshments and an opportunity to chat informally with Michael and other members of the audience. \nStratford-upon-Avon School is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Stratford and a 10 minute walk from Stratford railway station. There are also more frequent services to Warwick Parkway on the Chiltern line (20 minutes by taxi to Stratford). For those travelling by car there is ample free parking at the venue. \nDoors will open at 6.30 pm for a 7.00 pm start and the event will end by 9.00 pm. Admission is FREE but by ticket only. Reserved Admission tickets need to be booked in advance from Eventbrite. \n
